Read Davidson Custody Alerts Correctly

A VINELink alert describes an event from the reporting agency. “Released” confirms that source agency’s status. It does not prove that no other custodian immediately assumed control. Another warrant, a transfer to NCDAC, an ICE detainer, or continuing community supervision can alter what happened next.

For a Davidson jail event, request the sheriff custody release entry and review the filed court order. For a state-prison event, read NCDAC Offender Public Information. An inactive prison status paired with active post-release supervision means prison custody ended while correctional control continued.

Use each service only for its stated scope. Registry presence can sometimes corroborate a post-custody location for a covered person, but it cannot replace SAVAN or prove that all custody ended.

Match Davidson Records Before Alerts

Common names, aliases, spelling differences, and stale saved screens create false matches. Compare the offender or booking number, date of birth or age, physical descriptors, court county, and reporting agency. Use name variants to locate possibilities, then stop unless the identifiers agree.
